I'm as excited as a Pointer Sister

So I'm stoked, we're stoked. Excited. Eager. Filled with ideas. All because of articles like this.

Once upon a time when bandwidth access was the governing factor in the promise of the internet, we had the idea for an internet based theatre company.  We were young, idealistic, or whatever. Mostly, we didn't have kids yet! We were tired of the confines of dealing with the confines of physical space and saw potential in the internet for some kind of user driven internet experience. We were artists bound by the need to create in a non-traditional way. We had the idea to take a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book and create it via video, and make it an interactive experience for the user by giving them a choice for the next video snipet. Needless to say it didn't happen nor did another internet video idea, and the next thing we knew we were playing with dirty sock puppets.

Transmedia storytelling has the potential to create the kind of experience that was once limited to only our imaginations. I can see the potential for an artistic rennaisance of sorts. Transmedia storytelling is collaboration at it's best. It brings artists from multiple dosciplines and couples them with a project that can actually make money. Transmedia storytelling is a big win for the consumer as well. Transmedia storytelling can really open new avenues for an amazing experience for creators and end users, allowing them to communicate and collaborate, not only with themselves but with each other. Could transmedia storytelling save the economy?

But as you can see in the article, it ain't gonna happen cheap. I would like to see it follow a film industry like model. Where-in as transmedia becomes more popular and an expected experience, there will evolve deliniations of transmedia as a genre that will be defined by allocated project budgets. Much like big budget films, b-movies, or your standard porn. Those three genres all have their own "quality" expectation levels that are pre-determined/conditioned for any audience.

Anyways... we're excited about it. How about you?
